We are Phil Benson and Alice Chik - researchers and fans of Hong Kong music. Our interest in this project stemmed from our passion for locally written and produced music from various periods. We were excited to find that we could create a good collection of vinyl records and CDs on Hong Kong English pop (more than 300). But at the same time, there is practically nothing written about the singers, writers and producers. We initiated the project to learn more about the local pop music history, preserve a small piece of the local history and explore the role of English pop music in informal education at different eras. We also hope that, through this website, Hong Kong English pop will be known to a wider audience.
